That's usually the first thing I say when someone new calls me. Because I'd rather be honest than promise you something I can't deliver.
I got into investing in 1998 — not as a career, just because I found it interesting. I liked understanding how money moved, what made markets tick, why some people came out ahead and others didn't. I started advising friends informally before I ever held a license. By 2000 I made it official.
That timing meant I walked straight into the dot-com crash. I watched what it did to people — especially people who were close to retirement with no protection in place. Then 2007 happened. This time I wasn't just watching. My own IRA dropped 45%. I didn't sell — I actually bought more at the bottom, because I had time on my side. But I understood in a way I hadn't before what it feels like when the number on the screen stops being abstract. When it's not the market anymore. It's your life.
That's the experience I bring to every conversation.

My wife and I both have annuities. If I wouldn't feel good putting my family in a product, I won't put you in it. That's not a sales line — it's just how I think about this work..
